Personal reasons also guided me towards special education. One of my daughters has had an IEP(Individualized Education Program) since she was in the first grade. I am grateful that my daughter has had the help she needed to help her through her academic career. My nephew who was diagnosed with Emmanuel Syndrome also has inspired me towards learning more about Special Education.
Thus far in my research I have grown to understand the different types of disabilities and the methods in helping the teachers, children and families cope with the ups and downs being in an inclusion classroom. The knowledge I hope to gain I want to be able to practice and share. Any information, experiences, opinions, views, etc., that anyone is willing to share with me would truly be appreciated. If I can help anyone do not hesitate to ask. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!!!!
Wow! I am so glad you are interested in special education as well! I hope to learn from your research and I hope I am able to supply you with new information from my research study. I also have a child with an IEP who was diagnosed with reading disabilities in first grade. He is now 16. Good Luck to you and I can't wait to hear about your research!
ReplyDeleteHello Ivelisse:
ReplyDeleteAs we continue our academic journey, I am glad we are blogging again.
Thank you for sharing your personal experiences. I am looking forward to learn from you more about special education in the ECE field. You have a valid reason to study this topic in depth. I am sure as you extend your research, you will find many answers to questions you had in the past as an educator and a mother.
Good luck to you. NAEYC websites has ample articles supporting your topic, so does Harvard University. Our journey to grow continues...:)
